Fortaleza is a big town in the state of Ceara, in the North of Brazil. It has several beaches: Praia do Iracema, Praia do Meireles and Praia do Futuro.
Praia do IracemaIt has a large indoor market, selling food and clothes. There is a big cathedral which is very important to many people in Fortaleza.
There is a museum and art gallery called Dragao do Mar.
In the period before carnaval, Fortaleza has lots of street parties. A stage is set up on Iracema beach where local bands perform samba, pagode, Axe and Forro music (see "Brazilian music")
